Role

We are seeking a long-term or permanent General Practitioner (Family Medicine physician) to work up to 10 sessions (5 days) per week across two of our practices in Paeroa and Te Aroha.

We require someone who is highly engaged and passionate about working with our whānau (families) in a kaupapa Māori environment. The successful candidate will need to be committed to achieving health equity and driving quality improvement to ensure better health outcomes for our patients in Hauraki rohe.

The cost of Medical Council registration and medical indemnity insurance for permanent staff will be covered by the practice.

Practice

Te Korowai has 5 Whānau Health Centres located in Thames (at Thames Hospital), Whitianga, Coromandel, Paeroa and Te Aroha.

Responsible to the Clinical Services Manager and an integral part of the Ohu Hauora, this position is also responsible for ensuring work carried out supports best practice, meets sector standards and whānau needs, respecting the rights and confidentiality of whānau at all times; ensuring services are delivered professionally and of the highest quality to meet funder and contract requirements.

This fun, exciting whānau health service has access to multiple in-house resources/wrap-around services, including counselling, chronic care, mental health and whānau ora (housing and social work).

Location

Paeroa has a great geographic advantage in that it is central to so many other fabulous towns and cities in the North Island. There are three major cities within an hour and a half’s travel, stunning beaches, bush, mountains and rivers as well as being within close reach of the Coromandel Peninsula.

The climate is mild and most activities can be enjoyed year round. The Karangahake Gorge Historic Walkway is a popular hike that passes several important historical features and each February the ‘Battle of the Streets’, incorporating motorcycle races and a Pipe Band Tattoo, attracts participants and crowds to Paeroa from all over New Zealand and overseas.

Home to the Mokena Hou Geyser, the only natural soda water geyser in the world, and Te Aroha, known for it’s thermal and mineral springs.
