Job Details

Looking for an exciting job opportunity within prison healthcare?

Our prison GPs are extremely valued and well respected members of the Offender Health community. Delivering first class healthcare to a group with such a wide variety of patients, GPs at Care UK get the opportunity to further develop their knowledge in areas they that wouldn’t usually experience within a practice, or even A&E environment.

As a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, the General Practitioner will provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient’s requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management. You will also provide a highly specialist resource to other healthcare staff, patients and carers and have active involvement in clinical governance/effectiveness activities.

HMP Pentonville is a Cat B/Local Men's Prison situated in N7, London. Pentonville is a local prison accepting all suitable male prisoners over the age of 18 from courts in its catchment area.

The Job Requirements

You will be a qualified GP with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever changing. You’ll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.
If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!

Salary and Benefits

The salary will be discussed at interview depending on skills and experience.

Care UK benefits include training & development opportunities, company contributory pension scheme, 25 days annual leave plus 8 public bank holidays, staff well-being, access to bank hours, CPD, re-validation, cycle to work scheme and free onsite parking at some locations.

We are also proud to support our employees with continued professional development opportunities and further education subject to service needs...

Further Job Information

This is a full-time vacancy, working 40 hour per week but we would also consider part-time applications. We welcome informal visits to the prison but these must be booked in advance, please contact Alex for more information.

If you'd like to have an informal chat prior to applying for the job, please contact Alex Tigwell on 01189 521869

Please note that offers of employment are subject to Care UK Terms & Conditions and employment is subject to receipt of satisfactory references, enhanced DBS check and prison vetting.

Be the doctor you want to be at Practice Plus Group

Welcome to Practice Plus Group, the country’s largest independent provider of NHS services.

We deliver a wide range of quality, flexible services to millions of patients across the UK. But what do we give the doctors who work for us?

In a word, freedom.

Our primary care services range from GP services and walk-in centres to urgent care and SARCs, out of hours services and offender health.

That means, as a doctor joining our team, you have the freedom to choose where you work. Do you want to specialise in one area? Go for it. Would you prefer a portfolio career, developing your skills and experience in a selection of services? That’s also fine by us. Whichever option you choose, one thing’s for sure: because we serve a rich mix of patient populations you can expect a wealth of professional challenges that will really test – and develop – your skills.

What’s more, you’re free to choose the hours you want to work. So you can join us on a full time basis, or fit your role at Practice Plus Group around existing work or lifestyle commitments. Our GP practices and walk-in centres are open late and at weekends, so you can work whatever mix of hours and days that suit you.

We also understand that you’d rather be treating patients than shuffling paper, so we free you from much of the admin that you’ll find in a traditional GP practice. Plus, because our GPs don’t buy into our practices, you can say goodbye to the logistical worries that come with running a practice. All in all, you’re free to get on with doing what you trained for – treating patients.

What else do we offer?

  • If you join us as a salaried GP, we’ll pay your medical indemnity costs.
  • We’ll support you in your continuing professional development, so that you continue to meet your appraisal and revalidation requirements.
  • You’ll be joining a supportive team of quality health professionals, including expert medical leads who will provide ongoing one-to-one support and guidance.

At Practice Plus Group we’re constantly adapting our healthcare services and models to suit the way people live now. If you like the sound of joining an innovative, forward-thinking healthcare provider where your skills and experience will be valued and developed, apply for one of our roles today.
