About The Role

As part of Practice Plus Group having recently been awarded the healthcare contract at HMP Eastwood Park, the opportunity has arisen for a General Practitioner to join the talented Healthcare team on site. This role will be a great chance to further develop your clinical and medical skills when we will begin delivering services in October 2022.

What will you be doing?

As a GP at HMP Eastwood Park, you’ll provide clinical oversight across a challenging, yet demanding patient group. You will be pivotal in engaging the clinical workforce to support the delivery of the organisation’s objectives and will gain insight and training in Mental Health and Substance Misuse.

As a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, the General Practitioner will provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient’s requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management. You will also provide a highly specialist resource to other healthcare staff, patients and carers and have active involvement in clinical governance/effectiveness activities. It doesn’t end there; you will have a chance to become actively involved in audit, teaching and training (management of substance misuse and/or blood borne viruses) as well as helping us to adapt the service to the ever-changing needs of the patients. This is a full time role, however we are open to discussing part-time and flexible options, also.

About You

We offer an annual salary of up to £114,950 per annum per annum (pro rata for part time applications) plus payment of MDU/MPS subscription and CPD days. If you are looking for portfolio work or cross site working, we can offer this on a temporary or permanent basis with the opportunities of extra shifts and overtime also.

We have a wide range of company benefits also, including a company contributory pension scheme, 25 days annual leave rising to 28 days with service plus 8 public bank holidays (pro rata for part time applications), access to shopping discounts and the NHS blue light card, financial assistance when you need it, access to discounted memberships such as Costco and a cycle to work scheme.

HMP Eastwood Park is a women's closed prison, located in the village of Falfield in South Gloucestershire with a maximum of 442 adult women. About Us

Practice Plus Group were recently awarded the healthcare contract at HMP Eastwood Park and will begin delivering services in October 2022. Our Wellbeing Approach is an integrated, comprehensive model of care that recognises women in prison often require specific health and wellbeing interventions that take account of their gender as well as their individual circumstances and needs. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation, ensuring the delivery of holistic, patient-centred care.

Practice Plus Group is a specialist provider of NHS services into prison healthcare. From October 2022, we will be the recognised provider of 52 different prisons, young offenders and immigration removal centres. We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history. The prison population is one of the most vulnerable and challenged patient groups in society and the delivery of their health care is conducted within often demanding environments.

Practice Plus Group’s mission is Access to Excellence.  Our core values are;

  • we treat patients and each other as we would like to be treated,
  • we act with integrity
  • we embrace diversity
  • we strive to do things better together.
  • Patients can only access excellence if we commit to living our values in everything we do when we’re at work.

If you share these values and have transferable skills we want to meet you.

Be the doctor you want to be at Practice Plus Group

Welcome to Practice Plus Group, the country’s largest independent provider of NHS services.

We deliver a wide range of quality, flexible services to millions of patients across the UK. But what do we give the doctors who work for us?

In a word, freedom.

Our primary care services range from GP services and walk-in centres to urgent care and SARCs, out of hours services and offender health.

That means, as a doctor joining our team, you have the freedom to choose where you work. Do you want to specialise in one area? Go for it. Would you prefer a portfolio career, developing your skills and experience in a selection of services? That’s also fine by us. Whichever option you choose, one thing’s for sure: because we serve a rich mix of patient populations you can expect a wealth of professional challenges that will really test – and develop – your skills.

What’s more, you’re free to choose the hours you want to work. So you can join us on a full time basis, or fit your role at Practice Plus Group around existing work or lifestyle commitments. Our GP practices and walk-in centres are open late and at weekends, so you can work whatever mix of hours and days that suit you.

We also understand that you’d rather be treating patients than shuffling paper, so we free you from much of the admin that you’ll find in a traditional GP practice. Plus, because our GPs don’t buy into our practices, you can say goodbye to the logistical worries that come with running a practice. All in all, you’re free to get on with doing what you trained for – treating patients.

What else do we offer?

  • If you join us as a salaried GP, we’ll pay your medical indemnity costs.
  • We’ll support you in your continuing professional development, so that you continue to meet your appraisal and revalidation requirements.
  • You’ll be joining a supportive team of quality health professionals, including expert medical leads who will provide ongoing one-to-one support and guidance.

At Practice Plus Group we’re constantly adapting our healthcare services and models to suit the way people live now. If you like the sound of joining an innovative, forward-thinking healthcare provider where your skills and experience will be valued and developed, apply for one of our roles today.
