Salaried GP

Mayfield Surgery in the beautiful seaside town of Paignton are offering an exciting opportunity for a Salaried GP to join us in our high-performing, innovative Practice: £11,054 per session, dependent on contractual preferences.

  • Indemnity paid by the practice under MDU group scheme or subscription equivalent
  • 6 weeks annual leave
  • 1 week study leave
  • Regular admin time
  • Good work-life balance
  • Excellent supportive team

We are hoping to welcome a new list holding salaried GP into our friendly, supportive and forward-thinking team here at Mayfield. We are focussed on maintaining a sustainable and enjoyable work environment and strongly believe that fostering and maintaining a positive ethos and shared vision leads to high quality patient care and a happy and healthy team.

We are committed to finding the right person for this role and are flexible regarding sessions/days worked. We encourage professional development for all our clinicians and have GPs on the LMC, the Southern Primary Care Collaborative Board, one of our team is a joint Clinical Director of our PCN. We have recently become a training practice again with a newly appointed GP Educational Supervisor, we have GPs subspecialising in areas such as Public Health and we support GPs enrolled on the GP New to Practice Fellowship. No matter our experience level, each and every one of us is supported and encouraged to reach our potential. We have an ‘open door’ policy between all clinicians that fosters close working relationships and effective teamworking.

We provide the hub for Torbay Care Home Visiting Service, which was developed and piloted highly successfully at Mayfield. This role would be equally attractive for a GP that has recently completed their training (and is therefore eligible for a NTP Fellowship), as well as for more experienced GPs. We are passionate about advancing Primary Care to meet the current and future challenges; we want not only to be resilient and sustainable whilst providing high quality care, we want Primary Care to be enjoyable and vibrant. We have embraced change, adapting and evolving through the Covid-19 Pandemic, with patients being managed through telephone and video consultations along with e-Consult. We are currently exploring new online platforms as technologies become available to us, in the ongoing evolution of the General Practice service provision.  Patients are seen face-to-face where these tools are not appropriate.  A typical session has an admin slot, a coffee slot, 10 telephone slots and 5 on-the-day triaged face to face 15 minute appointments. Duty surgeries are carried out in teams, including our Paramedics practitioners, who undertake the vast majority of the home visits. Our prescribing Pharmacist team manages medication queries and reviews, along with repeat prescriptions.

We aim to finish daily by 6pm. There are regular educational meetings including a monthly CPD seminar organised by our Salaried GP team. We enjoy socials throughout the year, including our legendary Christmas party. We would welcome you to visit us for an informal chat and to see how we work - please contact our Practice Manager Colin Whitford (01803 495408 or 07795 294309), email colin.whitford@nhs.net or Dr Trevor Avis on trevor.avis@nhs.net
