Job Details

Are you a GP Locum looking for a change?  While Cornwall is best known for its picturesque countryside, beautiful beaches, and a more relaxed lifestyle, it is also a fantastic place for personal and professional development, and continued career progression. Investment in primary care in Cornwall is higher than many other systems, and across Cornwall we have one of the highest numbers of dispensing practices in the country.

Bordering Plymouth, the North and East integrated care area offers a mix of beaches such as Bude and Port Isaac, market towns in Launceston and Callington, coastal harbours in Fowey, Looe, and Padstow, and rural landscape in Bodmin Moor and the Camel Estuary.  North and East Cornwall offers something for everyone.

As a Locum GP in East Cornwall, we can offer you;

  • Regular Locum peer support groups
  • Locum bank – digital online platform to view and book available shifts in practices
  • Opportunities for mentoring, or development opportunities to become a GP mentor and help mentor our newly qualified GPs.
  • Access to subsidised CPD opportunities and a range of other training and support through Cornwall Training Hub.
  • Opportunities to build a portfolio role including in Education, or specialist interest areas.

The ICA covers 5 primary care networks (PCNs) in Coast and Country, East Cornwall, Launceston and Tamar Valley, North Cornwall, and Three Harbours and Bosvena. It provides services to a total patient population of approximately 186,500, ranging from East Cornwall PCN, with 71,000, to smaller practices with around 20,000.  It is served by two community hospitals in Bodmin and Stratton and spans the acute hospital both in Truro, and across the border into Plymouth.

If you would like to come to Cornwall and see for yourself, why not take advantage of our Introduction to Cornwall scheme where we can contribute to your holiday accommodation, or join us at our recruitment event on 25 May where you can meet representatives from Practices across Cornwall.  Please visit the link to book your space:
