Dr Praveen’s story, Salaried GP at Severn Fields Practice      

Dr Praveen has been a GP for almost 4 years now, and was practising at a surgery near Cannock when we contacted her.  She was looking to relocate to the Shropshire area and understood how using an agency to help her search for a job would save her time and help her find the best GP job in a new area for her. 

We spent time with Dr Praveen to fully understand her needs including times she wanted to work to accommodate her childcare arrangements and looking for a location close to where she was going to move and where her kids go to school.  Our consultant David helped her through the whole process, having local knowledge; he helped her identify a few different practices that could accommodate her needs.

David set up an informal meeting with the Steve, the practice manager at Severn Fields and the rest, as they say, is history.

Dr Praveen is very happy in her new role, it fits in well around her children’s childcare needs and is close to where she lives.  She has settled in well with the help of the extended, friendly practice team and looks forward to contributing more to the performance of the practice.  She would not hesitate to recommend Prospect Health to any GPs looking to move to a new role.

Steve Ellis’s story, Practice Manager at Severn Fields Practice

Severn Fields practice merged with another practice last year which resulted in a vacancy for a 6 session salaried GP.  Steve Ellis, the Practice manager at the surgery, tried various channels to attract a GP, such as advertising on NHS.Net and using local ads, but none were successful.  David from Prospect Health got in touch with Steve as he had the details of a talented GP, Dr Praveen, who completely fitted their brief. Steve was not thinking of using an agency but, as he had not had any luck with adverts, he agreed to see Dr Praveen.

Steve said the process of dealing with David and the Prospect Health team was easy, David kept him fully informed at all times and was easy to communicate with. Dr Praveen perfectly fitted the practices brief and  Steve and the partners at the surgery were delighted to offer her the job.

Steve has said the benefits of finding a permanent Salaried GP for the practice far outweigh the use of locums to cover the vacancy. As the practice has permanent cover for appointments, it has meant the partners have more time and space to deal with the work they need to do. Over the long term it will work our better financially to have a permanent GP instead of using locums with the added benefit of continuity of care for their patients.

Dr Praveen has fitted in really well to the surgery and Steve hopes she will start add much value over the next few months as she settles into the role and the practice.  He would not hesitate to use Prospect Health again to find him another GP if the need arose.
